My Approach
Every dog is unique.
Some are just beginning their story as healthy puppies. Some are starting to feel their years. Others have spent years struggling with skin problems, tummy troubles, or bigger health challenges that never seem to have simple answers.
No matter what your dog's story is, I don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.
A dog is more than a collection of symptoms and wellness is more than the absence of them.
We begin with the concern that brought you here and keep that as our guide. But to understand it as fully as possible, I want to know the dog behind it-their history, health, lifestyle, nutrition, environment, routines and all the little things you have noticed.
I want to hear their story the way only the person who knows them best can tell it: you.
Knowing the whole dog lets me bring everything I've learned through education, experience and years of working with dogs, to focus on your dog and your concerns.
That doesn't mean every dog needs everything- it means I bring a broader perspective and deeper knowledge to what brought you here.
Whether we're talking about nutrition, skin and coat care, or both, every recommendation begins with the same question:

Nutrition
Whether you're raising a new puppy, supporting a senior dog, or searching for answers to digestive issues, allergies, weight concerns, or chronic health challenges, good nutrition provides the foundation for lifelong health.
Nutrition consultations are available nationwide by phone or video.
Dermacare
Healthy skin starts with understanding what's happening beneath the surface—not just treating what you see. Intrinsic K9 Dermacare combines therapeutic skin care with a whole-dog approach to help dogs with chronic skin and coat concerns find lasting improvement.
Dermacare services are offered locally at Mary's TLC Pet Grooming.
Pet Grooming
I do grooming in addition to nutrition and specialty skin and coat care.
It really is just another piece of the health puzzle. Not only does grooming keep our pets looking and smelling their best, it keeps them feeling their best. Grooming really is hygiene.
That said, who says it can't be fun too? Whether you want a nail trim, a simple bath and clip or you want to make your pup look like Tigger. I can help you!
You don't have to have all the answers
Most of the people who find Intrinsic K9 have already spent weeks, months, or even years trying to help their dogs.
They've spent tons of money, read articles, searched online, tried recommendations from friends, and often feel more confused than when they started.
If that sounds familiar, you're not alone.
You don't have to know whether nutrition, Dermacare, or both are the right place to begin.
You don't even have to know what's causing the problem.
You don't have to have answers before you reach out.
My job is to listen, ask questions, and help you understand your dog's story. From there, we'll decide together what makes the most sense for your dog.
Sometimes that starts with nutrition.
Sometimes it starts with Dermacare.
Sometimes it's something completely different.
No matter where we start, we'll figure it out together.

Meet Anna
I never planned on becoming a canine nutritionist, a groomer or building a business around helping dogs with nutrition and skin health.
Like many little girls, I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. (Actually...I wanted to be a jockey first, but I also discovered tacos.)
Life had other plans.
The Coast Guard led me to my husband. Military life led me to veterinary study, horses, Busch Gardens, grooming, homeschooling four amazing kids, and eventually back to where I'd always belonged—helping dogs.
Today, Intrinsic K9 brings together everything I've learned along the way. Whether we're working through a nutrition consultation or a Dermacare plan, my goal is always the same: to listen first, understand the whole dog, and help owners make confident decisions for the dogs they love.
One of the things new clients tell me most often is:

I take that as one of the nicest compliments I could receive.
